Liquidity and Accessibility

How institutions can buy, hold and sell allocated gold with EONA — and the practical points about liquidity to understand in advance.

Why Liquidity Matters for Institutions

Liquidity determines how quickly and efficiently an asset can be converted into cash. For institutions — especially those with short-term liabilities — understanding liquidity in advance is essential.

Different ways of holding gold (coins, pooled accounts, ETFs) come with different constraints: trading hours, redemption terms or delivery delays. Some lack transparency on execution prices or introduce counterparty risk.

Allocated gold — recorded against specific bars and verifiable — has sometimes been seen as harder to sell quickly. A clear selling process helps.

How It Works with EONA

With EONA, institutions can:

  • Buy and sell at prices based on the international spot price plus a premium, with a commission
  • Hold metal with Loomis in Dubai (Zurich and Singapore are planned, coming soon)
  • Receive proceeds in the organisation’s verified bank account
  • Access records of holdings and transactions for audit and reporting

You see the price and costs before you confirm each order.

Exit Options

When institutions hold metal through EONA:

  • They can sell back to EONA at the price shown on the platform
  • Holdings cannot be transferred to another customer
  • EONA does not currently offer delivery or collection of physical metal
  • Moving metal between vaults is not currently available

Knowing these points in advance helps institutions plan for periods of market volatility. The value of precious metals can fall, so a sale may realise less than was paid.

Transparency Builds Confidence

With EONA, your holdings and the bars they are recorded against are shown in your account, together with transaction history — useful for treasurers and CFOs preparing internal and external reports.

There’s no ambiguity about where your metal is stored or how you can sell it.

Perguntas comuns

  • Through their EONA account. Sales are priced on the international spot price minus a discount, with a 1.00% commission plus 5% VAT, and proceeds are paid to the organisation’s verified bank account. See our Fees & Spread page.
